Had similar codes.....P2187/P2189 but my idol was fine. When I turned the vehicle off (in my garage), there was about a 5 second loud air/blowing whine. Indy said it was the PVC Valve Cover cap part of the valve code assembly? Showed it to me with the rubber gasket split causing too much air. Replaced it and all set now. Did not need to remove the valve cover / supercharger etc as they feared.
My XF 3.0 V6 runs the radiator/cooling fan for a good 8 seconds after engine shut off, jas been the case for a while. Entire supercharger unit was replaced less than a year ago.
I'm going to assume that is not normal? I assumed it was since its summer time. Didnt notice it during winter.
I have also a XF 3.0 supercharged 2013 model with the same issue of high RPM (2500/3000 rpm) when I start for the first time.
I just changed the PCV valve (that was not damaged) and still have the issue.
Would you have any idea of what could be the problem?
Apologyze of I am quite short but english is not my mother tong.
I have been chasing codes P2187 & P2189 for awhile. Today I replaced the PCV cap, spring and membrane Old PCV with hoses and covers removed Tear is clear Complete part set: cap, membrane & spring New PCV installed and running fine.
The codes have not returned with both long term banks reporting near 0% now. Problem resolved. Here are some photos showing the process. Once the hoses and related covers are removed it is a simple process.
I just had the same high revs on start issue, plus the lean codes (P0187 and P0189) and check engine light.
I ordered a replacement PCV valve and cover from RKX here. It took only 2 days to arrive in Maine from Utah.
I had a local garage install the new part as I lacked the tools to easily do it. It took them just a short time and the problem was immediately resolved. My old PCV valve diaphragm was torn which was causing the issue.
So if anyone else experiences this problem I'd definitely recommend the RKX product.
I used a metal ruler to compress the spring and rubebr diaphram and slid the cap across the ruler and snapped it in place (using a mini prybar to get the top to seat by wedging it agianst the SC there.
