Default 6spd vs 8spd tranny XFR best for tuning/reliability?

Which transmission is best for ECU & TCU tuning and 1/4 times?! I’ve research the forums here and I can’t honestly say I know. I’m reading both are great for tuning and the 8spd is a lil better on gas..

What’s your real world experience? Reliability issues? Would you choose a 2012 or 2013 XFR is the extra $3-4k worth the 2 extra gears?

6spd is more robust and reliable.
less shifts to finish a 1/4mile
the 1st gear in a 8hp is almost useless, you'll never get any traction with it.

So the 6spd should be faster? Is it? I thought the 1/4 mile times are the same. J certainly wait the tranny that’ll last longer and require less issues down the road.

8 speed is faster and gets better mileage. Drive both yourself I have.

Remapped 6hp is faster than remapped 8hp, tested.
As a side note - the stock torque limiter in 8hp is 700nm while 6hp is 750
Yes, 8hp gives a better mileage, but 6hp is better in terms of handling torque.
