Default Anyone Replaced Their E-Diff Motor

Has anyone replaced their e-diff motor themselves? Curious how involved it is.
Thanks!

Not yet, but I was considering it to investigate improving cooling of the motor. It's not a hugely involved job, basically just requires removal of exhaust mufflers and rear cross-brace. The motor is bolted onto the outside of the diff.

THANKS! I actually just finally found those same pages in my copy and was starting to read them. Any thoughts on a way around this from page 4?

Short of disassembling both old and new motor units (and I've never looked at one in great detail, so they may not even be possible) and swapping the control board from the old one to the new one, I'm guessing like most modules now it needs to be reprogrammed. It's possible to get the software and cable to do this though.

Dealer quoted $4,300 to replace it. Part is $950, plus $50 for diff oil. So, $3,300 for labor on what appears to be a 2-3 hour job! Not happening.

$4300! I think you need to find a new dealer.

I told them not to touch it. Just pull it out of the shop and I'll pay the diagnostics fee of $135. They also wanted $3,700 for cracked boots on the rear suspension. First time I brought it to them -- and last.
