Talking Axe the experts

2011 XFR

The other day I waded through the Owner's Handbook and quick start guide and found several things that I don't know how to get to work. I thought I would ask the experts on here.

1. Folding Mirrors - Page 3 of the Quick Start Guide says that mirrors will fold in if the two mirror selection buttons next to the mirror mover stalk are pressed simultaneously. Doesn't do that. No mirror movement at all. Do the mirrors really fold in?

2. Other Trip Display - Page 55 of Owner's Handbook says there is a Trip B and a Trip Auto that can be displayed but there are no instructions on how to do that. Mine only displays Trip A. How do you get the others to display and how do you reset them?

3. External Temperature - Page 62 of the Owner's Handbook says that you can get the outside temperature to display on the dashboard. I am guessing they are talking about the DIC between the tach and speedo where the clock is. How do you get the outside temperature to display?

4. Recirculating Filter - Page 62 of the Owner's Handbook talks about an air quality sensor and its display. I don't even have the settings option on the Climate menu that is discussed, let alone the icon.

I would really like to know if these things are supposed to be there or why they are not when they are so prominent in the Owner's Handbook. They are discussed in the Owner's Handbook not as "Optional blah blah" but as if it is actually installed.

Enquiring minds need to know.

Folding mirrors are likely Europe only. Pointless in North America as our streets are so wide. Many new European cars automatically fold the mirrors when you switch off. Judging by the number of kicked off door mirrors on the average Paris street I would say this is an essential feature in many European locales. Also, many situations in Europe require that you fold the mirrors just to keep driving: passing another car on a very narrow street or negotiating some City streets in Europe. I've never need this feature in North America.

Trip B is accessed through the "Vehicle" menu and "Trip odometers". You can select either A or B to display. You can re-set either from this menu. Only the displayed odometer can be zero'd with the button on the end of the selector stalk.

Exterior temperature can only be displayed at the top of the center LCD screen.

All XF come with a cabin air filter. I am not aware of any display attached to this feature. I believe all XF have an air quality sensor which will automatically activate the recirc function if the air gets bad enough.
