Default Backup camera showing black screen when car is cold (sometimes) - 2009 XF

So here's a weird one. I have an intermittent black screen when in reverse but only when the car has been sitting for multiple hours. This happens probably once every couple of days. Sometimes its totally black and other times I can see a faint image on the left hand side of the screen. After about 10 minutes of driving its fine.

Anyone ever experienced this issue? I'm thinking of cracking open the boot lid and checking wires.

weirdly, when it gets below 35 or so degress my radio reception goes by by, (no my rear defroster is not on, which also messes with reception)

I think there are some loose connections that when the metal shrinks with the cold just become unuseable.

Yup you could be right. During last winter I had an issue with my secondary sounder alarm not working in the cold. When spring came it started to work perfectly.

Check the wiring that passes through the trunk hinge.

thanks. Will do. My wiring harness was replaced 2 years ago so I'm hoping that's not the issue.
