Default Brother vs Brother (C63S vs XFRS)

So my younger brother rolls up to the house today in a brand new C63S Sedan. Took me for a test ride. OMG. I know the passenger side typically feels faster than the driver's side but dang that car had incredible pull in 3rd up to 100+. It feels incredibly quick.

So of course we are going to have to line the Jag up against the MB at Ennis (1/4 mile track) in a month or so. He's got 400+ lbs of advantage and only slightly less power but almost no track time where as I campaigned for years and can still cut a mean light.

Has anyone seen times on the '17 C63S? I might need to add some new tires to the car as this could be a major defeat. My bro' has never been able to outrun my cars so he is gunning for a win.

Let the countdown begin!

Thumbs down

My cousin and I have the same friendly rivalry. Have for years.

The latest was a few years ago, he had an AWD Hemi 300 so I bought my NA 5.0 2010 XF. So fast forward to late last year, he bought a 2011 Merc S600, so I traded the XF in on my current XFSC 5.0.

I get him off the line and up to about 80, then he starts reeling me in.

Good luck.

The new turbocharged C63S's should be good for low twelves/high elevens with traps closer to about 120 (with good conditions and a good driver). Should be a good race for you!

I have attached the test sheet that Car and Driver did on a new C63S. Of course, these numbers are the absolute best case scenario with the driver performing multiple runs to achieve the fastest time. Car and Driver also corrects their times for weather as per their testing disclaimers.

Let us know the results!

Does the C63S have launch control? If so, since you don't have it, does he get to use it?

Looking forward to the results for sure.

Yes, it does have launch control. The only thing would be if he could get staged with it at Ennis. They don't let you play around and since 1st to cross the line wins even if he out-ET'd me I'd be happy with a win.

sorry to say but you have no chance at all against it, of course both cars are stock, if he decided to do a tune that car will be in the high 10's

That's a coupe test. In Car and Driver's hands the sedan did 0-60 in 3.9s, 1/4@12.2@116mph

Which is funny, cause the sedan weighs 3939lbs and the coupe is 4102lbs (heavier than my 2016 F Type R)

Well he managed to wrap his C63 around a cement wall before getting it to the track. Completely destroyed. He walked away without a scratch thankfully. I'll still take the win. Sigh....

Not sure you get a win, but he definitely gets a loss. Is he rethinking trying to have a faster car than his brother?

I'm sorry to hear that...

I second Kyanite's comments, seems more like a loss for your brother than a win for you...

The only reason this came up, was I was car shopping with my younger brother, and sure enough we went looking at the new C-Class, both AMGs, we looked at the C43AMG and the C63SAMG.
He ended up buying the C43AMG (he is moving from a B8 Audi S4), but was really considering the C63S AMG, and although I didn't drive either of them, I was in both, and I have to say that the C63S goes like snot... it had me worried if we were to ever do a head to head, or some nice highway pulls, I don't know if I could definitively pull away...

Oh well, I wont have to worry about it now that he has bought the C43, but was curious how you and your brother had made out...

Hopefully your brother's experience didn't sour him on getting another performance car, and hope he is back in something fun to give you a little competition...

He mentioned he wants back in as long as it's the same equip as what he had -- which was a custom order out of MB-AMG. Waited 9 months to get it in. I honestly think that once the dust settles he's going to move on to something a bit less powerful...
