Default Can't wait to get my Kitty Cat installed

I always consider the leaper such a classic item that makes the Jags so distinctive from other cars. The leaper means a Jaguar and when one see's it, they know it's a Jag.

I bought my XF three weeks ago and I get people all the time telling me "Wow that's a beautiful car, what kind is it?" I am so proud of my Jag but every time someone ask me that I feel sooo disappointed!! When I tell them is a Jaguar they look for the leaper. These cars are just so beautiful and anyone should be able to see that it's a Jag and not have to guess what it is.

So next week I will have my beautiful Kitty Cat installed...where it belongs and where everyone can see it

Liza, I've moved your thread to the tech section, don't forget the pics when you get the leaper fitted.
Not everyone may agree with your choice!

Joey, I just got this comment this morning on my Facebook page... "Wooo that's a nice car! Is this the new Cadillac or Buick? I can't tell by the photos."
I felt offended!!! LOL But that's ok, the "problem" will be solved this week

Welcome aboard!

I wouldn't worry about the notion as to what it is or not. If that's the driving force behind your decision, I would leave the leaper off.....unless, of course you like the leaper on the bonnet as known

Most people don't know what the new Jaguars (09 and up) look like as the whole brand reinvented themselves. The cars look nothing like what they looked liked before. It will take time, before there is some type of recognition.

You can always post a rear shot of the fine and sculpted rear No-one will confuse it for anything else.

Agree with the "it will take time", no doubt about it! As for me, I will be driving and smiling at the kitty cat on the hood ready to go

I know there is a pretty big market in San Antonio, and I've seen a few around but, I never see any Jags at any meets. This last Coffee and Rides, I saw 1 E Type and one F Type. That was it besides my car. Everyone always ask my what kind of car it is. Or in the case of my Aquaintences after I tell them I'm driving a Jag now and the shocked looks on their face it's, "where is it?"

I agree that the leaper is the ultimate Jaguar Logo. That's one reason I fitted one to my XJ8. But I chose carefully..a small 'Black Chrome' one on a black car. Very subtle.

See if you can find some pictures of XFs with a Leaper fitted and have a look at some aftermarket options maybe.

Looking forward to some Pics of what you chose to fit. Good Luck.

Hey Liza,
leapers on the more modern Jags are always a hot topic.

I think there's as many ( myself included ) that feel they don't belong, its a trademark of the older more classic Jags of days gone by.

The badge on the trunk usually suffices.

However, having said all of that, its your car, your choice.

Your enthusiasm is infectious though and I hope you're happy with it once its installed.

Happy Christmas

Jim

NEIL,
It's post #243 here: https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...13/#post884289

liza, Thanks for posting. vEry nice-looking car!
Forgive me for not knowing, but what badge is prominent in the center of the XF grille? Growler? Just my opinion, but I think it needs to go. (My first thought when viewing the front-quartering view in the top pic)
Imagine if the grille were just the homogenous mesh all the way across? I doubt anyone offers a mesh grille without a platform for the emblem in the center, but I think it would be a sweet addition with the leaper.

Probably totally opposite of what you are looking for as a replacement, but Jaguar does make a red surrounded growler for the front instead of black surround.
