Default Chrome side vents and chrome mirrors

Looking to buy an XF in Frost Blue or White and am thinking the chrome vents would look good , especially on the metallic blue .

Has anyone got some close up pics of the chrome vents ?

Whats the general view of these mods, good or bad ?

Same question for the chrome mirror covers.

Thanks,

Nick

Don't forget that all the dealerships are on E-Bay selling the vents for ~$210. They pop on without any tools in 10 minutes. At the dealer, they will charge you ~$500 for the same parts installed. Do it yourself and save the cash for gas.

Ok Jimm, thanks.

Do the cheaper stick on ones look ok ?

The genuine jaguar ones look to be in one piece so i guess its a complete replacement rather than a cover.

Are the genuine ones metal chrome rather than plastic chrome ?

Cheers,

Nick

Plastic chrome.. You can see pics of mine in my profile. I got mine with a decent discount and free shpping from Nalley Jaguar. They give a discount to JaguarForums members.. Somewhere here in the forum there is a ad with contact info..

If you are talking about the louvers on the fenders, then yes, i think it would look great.
I personally like them when they are not color matched on the XFs.

I've never seen a car with the stick on kind so I can't speak of them. Knowing that it is only adhesive holding them on, I could see them peeling away after a few years. I'm going with the OEM parts since the cost isn't much.

Well, I got the OEM chrome vents today, kind of expensive at £25,000 though ???

I guess the XF Portfolio S that was thrown in with them bumped the price up a bit .

One test drive and i was hooked !

Thanks, good luck with the shopping, seems to be a great choice and good prices at the mo with the intro of the MY12.

I will post some more when i pick mine up in a couple of weeks.

Nick, likewise and thanks.
You hit the nail in the head. I have the urge to get one now, but i know i will get a really good deal on the car i want if i wait. I have been waiting for the new ones to roll in, since all the dealers are going to want to get rid of all the 09s, 10s. I think Jaguars fiscal year ends in June. i am aiming pulling the trigger sometime around that period.

Looking forward to seeing your pictures!

Very nice combo !

I was after the white, can't afford the XFR but ended up with a good deal on a mid 09 portfolio S in Met blue .
Now that i've seen yours , i am ordering the chrome mirror backs as well .
Are they a straightforward clip on job ?

Cheers,

Nick

Not sure if they are clip ons or not, they sure appear permanent. I am sure the dealer can tell you. Good luck, and I think you will be happy with the addtions.

If you haven't already tackled it, see my post yesterday. Search "Chrome side vent installation procedures". Lemme know if you have any questions. Bugga.

Default Side vent chrome covers removable?

I've looked at some used XKs with the aftermarket side vents but I can't find anywhere if they are removable. I see that most are applied with 3M tape so I am assuming they can be carefully removed to not damage paint? Any comments appreciated!
