Coolant Leaks
Sorry for the threat theft, but I wanted to ask a question and, hopefully, get a rapid response.
My '15 3.0 AWD XF with ~57k miles has had a slow coolant leak for some time now.
Recently I took it to a repair shop with considerable Land/Range Rover, but limited Jaguar experience for an oil change. In the process of the oii change they identified that I had been lacks in routine stuff and my air filter was very dirty (they were right, I hadn't been watching that one ...).
They also notice the remnants of the coolant leak and did a pressure check of the cooling system. They identified a hose that was leaking from the clamps and recommended changing it, which was done.
On getting the car home, and not driving it for a couple of weeks, I took it out for a 10-15 mile drive. It proceeded to dump the contents of the overflow bottle on my driveway. I took it back and they have pressure checked it again.
Today they told me that the coolant was flowing freely from the thermostat housing, and that they recommended replacing it,, so that they could re-do the pressure check to see if there were any other leaks.
Has anybody else seen large leaks from the thermostat vessel?
Thanks

Leakage on this engine (and on the 5.0 supercharged) is most often from the two front plastic pipes which in the original versions tended to leak from the flange seam, and from the rear crossover pipe, again at the flange.
The other culprit was often the plastic hose from the coolant reservoir. I don’t recall the thermostat housing as being a guilty component.
There are now revised OEM front pipes which have no flanges to leak. But more significantly there are now metal pipes for both the front and the rear (EuroAmp is one reliable source). I had these put on my F-Type 3.0 by my dealer.
The same engines are used in the Range Rovers and in several Jaguar models so your shop should have no problems with installation.

There have been reported cases of coolant leaks from the thermostat housing but all the ones I have seen have been seepage from the flange. In some cases just tightening the studs have fixed the seepage. "Flowing freely" sounds like there has been some kind of mechanical failure which I have never heard of or seen.
There is also an upgraded Aluminum thermostat housing if your interested?
It's under $100.
Al. Thermostat Housing
Note there are two version out and you need to determine if yours has the coolant sensor or not. Also the 5.0 and 3.0 use the same one. Only the V-6 has the two variations with the sensor or without. All the 5.0's do not have one.
Here is the one without the sensor.
