The crazy things people do when they see a Jag
From the day I got my XF, I've noticed that other drivers (or even pedestrians) react crazy to it. Today, a BMW 7 series was behind me on a back road, when we then entered the highway. He gunned it past me, across 4 lanes to the high speed lane (in morning traffic mind you!) and then immediately back across 4 lanes to take the next exit (which was about 1/4 mile from the on ramp we took). Really? really? Anyone else concerned about how your Jaguar is turning other drivers into lunatics? I've had to become a seriously defensive driver to stay out of their way....
It started before I even owned it.

People have this weird idea of what sort of things people do that own a car like this. "What do you do to have a car like this?", they just can't believe my answer.
I've since changed routes, but they changed a set of stop lights where if I got to 45MPH(The speed limit) quickly, I would make the next light comfortably. Now it is a situation where if you drive 10MPH under, you still come up with the next light red. (Grrr).
So before I caught onto the change, I'd take off, only to stop at the next light. I could see the eyes of the driver behind me when they caught up and stop. They would read and mouth "jag u ar" trying to figure out what the car that took off like that was. I'd see the passengers if any do it as well. Kinda funny. The back seat passengers would peer around the front seats.
Aside from these two, not a lot.

I don't get much in any of Jags but the TVR is simply frightening to drive. Had some idiot climb out his window (while driving) so he could get a better phone camera angle. Little did the idiot know that he paid more for his Honda then I have in my Tas. (oh and that Civic is probably a good bit faster).
As for your BMW experience, I tend to think that was just your average BMW driver and it had little to do with your car as he probably just assumed it was any old non "ultimate ad machine". LOL

I'm thinking of getting a dash cam....just in case. I had an incident in a decent rain storm, leading a pack of cars up the highway, when a Mercedes SUV came down the on ramp, looked over at me (I saw the tight steering wheel grip and glaring eyes) and punched it so hard he started hydroplaning and spinning across the 4 lanes towards me. My instinct was to punch it (that goodness) and he just missed hitting me almost head on. In my rearview he did a few 360's...with other cars all scattering. No one was hit....
A dash cam is pretty cheap insurance in the hopefully unlikely event that you need it. As others have pointed out, sometimes it's just crazy is as crazy does regardless of what you're driving, just don't be tempted to engage ;-)
And greetings to a fellow Scirocco owner ;-) I almost bought a Corrado...

no one does anything crazy around me. the XFR is not that noticeable, and in black it goes unseen.
back in the 90's my parents had a rose bronze colored vanden plas, which was a purple/pink color. people used to come to us and comment about it all the time

I have some weird things on my dashcam. I've noticed each time I'm on the highway, people want to show me their car is fast - I don't care. If you own a Jag, you have nothing to prove and it urks them when they see you wafting along in luxury at the posted speed admiring the weather and listening to your favorite tunes. BMW and Mercedes drivers are especially insecure when they see a Jaguar. Personally, I think they wish they'd rather bought one instead of the thing they're driving
