Exclamation Dent on Facelifted XF Front Grille Bezel. Please HELP!

Hello everyone,

I have a 2012 faceifted XF - which had a small problem yesterday.

Someone (Most likely a tall SUV) ran into my car front yesterday while parked at the mall.

Good news was that there was no damage to the vehicle body, but it seems like the SUV bumper dented the frame or bezel of my front grille.

Now the dent is not really noticeable, unless you look at it from a different angle, where it just looks really bad. It has now started bothering me!

My questions are:

1, For the face lifted models, can I just get a grille bezel or frame for my XF? The dealer told me the newer grilles are in one piece.

2. Can I fit an older grille 2009 - 2011 grill on the newer car (I believe this came in 4 pieces)? They are cheap too.

3. Can the grille bezel dent be pushed out and re-polished by a body shop (The bezel is all chrome)? I want to know if the grille bezel is metal or a chrome plated plastic.

I really don’t want to spend $400+ to buy a new grille. And then have to pay to fix it.

Any advice for the grille related to the new XF would be highly appreciated.

To best of my knowledge:
1. Grilles are one piece
2. No, '11 and earlier will not fit '12 and up
3. Bezel is plastic.

Someone just replaced their grille on the forum on an XFR and may have old one for sale. Also check classifieds. I have chrome '11 that I removed when I replaced mine with a black grille but won't fit '12. Check out recent grille replacement thread.

If things go well in the next couple of weeks I should have a chrome grille to sell. It is currently installed on my 2013 XF. Going to swap it for a black mesh/chrome version. Dealer says $161 for the labor to install.

Good news grapeman. I too was thinking to get my dented grille filled, sanded and sprayed matt black. Kind of like to look like this for now(Example shown on an XJ)

Incase it goes bad - just wondering, what would you be selling the used grille for please ? I can have it picked up. I wont need the growler, just the grille!

Let me know.

Yeah sure. Probably sell it for $150 to $175.

When I get it off, I will let you know.

I'm thinking about doing the same thing. Where did you buy your black mesh grille?

I bought mine used from a fellow board member. Although, just received a great quote from william.wigglesworth@sngbarratt.com. Send him a note, it will be worth the effort.

Replaced my chrome grille yesterday with a black mesh one. Looks much better.

I now have my chrome grille ready to sell.
