I think I have a differential problem on my 2010 XFR.

Pulling out of my driveway yesterday, the right rear wheel stopped on a patch of ice when backing. Pulling forward, the right wheel spun freely and the left wheel stayed put.

On any other car, the differential at this point would partially lock, or engage the ABS on the slipping wheel, to transfer torque to the wheel with good traction. My XFR did not do this...

I know the car has a funky E-Diff system, but it seems the system should be smart enough to transfer torque off the wheel with poor traction (heck, isn't that the *point* of the E-Diff?).

[I should note that about a year ago, I had an E-Diff warning fault and had a portion of the system replaced... not sure exactly what, except that the part was over $2000 and it was covered under my CPO warranty... because it was free to me and the fault went away after repair I didn't pay much attention.]

The dealer says that there is nothing wrong with the system and it passes all their tests. Surely this cannot be normal...

I suppose it is possible the fault could be in the ABS system...

I had a similar issue on my 2009 XFR, the first fix Jaguar tried was to recalibrate the motor that drives the clutch within the rear diff.
This worked for a while.
Unfortunately, the long term solution was to replace this motor with a new one.
The problem went away.

There's a fault. The e-diff should work as you describe and even if it didn't the DSC should apply the brake to the spinning wheel. The yellow traction control light should also flash.

Odd that no fault message showed up on the dash.
