Question Engine Overheating

My 2011 Jaguar XF Premuim's Engine Overheating light came on for the first time. The outside temperature was 94 degrees. And I turned air fan higher to get air cooler. I drove 1 block and overheated engine light came on in red. I immediately turned off air and message went off. What can the problem be. 2 days before dealership said that a recall was issued and I took it in. They did not say what they had done to make that change. They simply told me car was ready and I picked up.

Turning the AC on will make the engine run hotter, not cooler.

The recall (if it was a recall not a TSB) was probably for the Takata passenger air bag issue which has affected millions of vehicles.

Did you check your coolant level ? The XF has/had a tendency for water pump issues so either get it to the dealer or an independent Jaguar mechanic or take a look around to see if there any telltales of fluid loss.

Lots of things could be wrong. But check the radiator fan is coming on and blowing lots of air.
