Extended Warranties 2010 XF
Hey guys,
I have a 2010 XF Premium with 37K miles and 4 months left on the factory warranty. I am debating if it would be a good idea to purchase an extended warranty, considering that parts and repairs are expensive and Jaguar reputation. (This is the most expensive car we have owned yet, and got it new, at a great price. )
We already have the gas tank cap issue that has not been resolved in 2 tries, a water pump that needed replacement. We've had squealing brakes (soon after a brake job too). Otherwise the car runs fine.
We would like to keep the car for a few more years, since my wife is loathe to change cars and she loves this one. (She still loves the 2001 Acura MDX we still have...)
The other option is to trade it in for a 2013 XF AWD, which will allow us to get rid of the 2001 MDX since now she can drive it all year round. That option would save us from spending on new tires (needed soon) and brake job costs.
Advice?

I personally do not buy extended warranties of any kind. I am on my 3rd Jaguar and the 2 previous ones were very reliable. I don't plan on getting one when this current one goes out of OEM warranty. I have found that if you can find a good independent mechanic that will allow you to supply your own parts, that it is no more expensive than the ordinary Chevy or Ford to maintain. The dealer's labour costs and parts cost are so far off the reasonable mark. This is just my personal opinion and I know many here believe that an extended warranty is the best way to go. Just not for me based on the reliability of my past two Jags.
