Four banger XF?
When my wife's 2011 XF developed a coolant leak I had two options, replace all the cooling bits or buy a new one, after all ours was 9 years old albeit in excellent condition. On inspecting the new Jags, I was horrified to find out that the only option for the XF was a turbo four banger! What is this, a Subaru? An XF deserves a V8, so the decision was made. I'm curious how others feel about a 4 cylinder XF, to me it was revolting, although my wife really didn't care, she said she would've been quite happy with a new 4 cylinder car.
I've driven the XE with the 4-cylinder turbo and it seems plenty for that car but its smaller and doesn't pretend to be a luxury car. In the XF you really want plenty of torque so you can pass on the highway without a high pitch engine noise interfering with your Mozart symphony on the stereo. According to Jaguar's build website they still offer a V6, but only in sport trim with all wheel drive. Of course, our water pumps only last about 20K miles and with everything made of PA66 nylon, our V8s are worse than a submarine action/adventure movie. I look at the tiny little 4-banger in the engine bay and think, "Well at least when it leaks, it would be several orders of magnitude easier to fix."

We had a V6 XF loaner one time, and didn't like it much. Definitely less power than the V8 and didn't sound like the V8 does.
I have a 2011 XF as well, purchased new currently showing 46,xxx miles.
I’ve driven the XF, E-Pace, and F-Pace.
Most disappointed in the F-Pace. It was a 2019 25t model, no options with just over 500 miles showing. Unbelievable he cheap interior Jag puts in them. The entire center console was “loose”. Rest of the interior cheapest plastics with cut/mold lines visible. didn’t find the seats particularly comfortable either. And that 4-cylinder engine...WOW. I will admit it would get the car up to speed fairly quickly but crude and unrefined are the two words I’d use to describe...actually those sum up my thoughts on the F-pace in general.
The only thing I liked better about the XF was the room, and the headlights. Actually had rear legroom befitting a midsize, but the angle of the seat back and bottom made it uncomfortable. I have the xenons on mine but they are woefully inadequate (yes, I’ve had them adjusted several times and the dealer says they can’t be adjusted any higher), but this XF had the optional LEDs and they were much better, not as bright as the LEDs on my Escalade, but more than adequate. Otherwise XF a total letdown with cheap interior bits, noisier, rougher ride. At least the 4-cylinder wasn’t as thrashy or as loud as it was in the F-pace. Compared to mine, still a total step backwards.

I understand that the 2021 F-Pace is being delivered with the new super/turbo-charged I6. Wonder how long it will be before we see it in the XF or F-Type.
