Default Heater blowing cold air

Hi all,
I have a Jag XF 2012 2.2D and my heater has recently stopped blowing hot air, the dashboard vents were having an intermittent problem prior to this whereby sometimes they would rotate as they should when turning on ignition but sometimes they wouldn't. It's cold here in the uk at the moment and i can't clear my screen due to only having cold air, could anybody tell me where to start with this issue.

Thanks in advance

Diesel engines take a long time to warm up so your car is fitted with an electric pre-heater. If the heater has a fault it can cause a spike in the Lin, these causes the heater to do strange things, including the vents doing strange things. You can disconnect the pre-heater easily & the climate will return to normal.

There's a video on youtube by Sofa Warrior that shows how to disconnect.
I tried to paste it in here but wouldn't work for some reason!

Probably air in the system, check coolant topped up and use bleed screw in heater feed pipe to extract air.

Default Fixed!!!

Pleased to say that disconnecting the pre heater has fixed the issue, was a little bit fiddly but anybody who has a similar issue shouldn't be intimidated by it and have a go yourself. Total time taken was about 10 minutes and now the wife has promised to do disgusting things to me later as payment so all's well that ends well!!!!
