Default How do you clean your chrome?

I noticed the chrome around my windows is looking a bit water stained, what's the best product and method to get them all shiny again?

Have a body shop remove the trim and paint it black.

I've used silver polish for now, they do look much better but I imagine they will be dirty again in few days. I've considered painting them black but I'm not sure I want to lose the chrome, I actually like it and I've also got them chrome vent things on the wings.

Don't use chrome cleaner, because it's not chrome. It's anodized, which can't be cleaned without removing the anodized coating.

When I bought my white xf, something happened at the dealer to cause white staining on the trim, and the dealer thought they could clean it, but they were wrong. They had to replace all of it under warranty.

Whatever it is, I just wanted to know the best way to clean it.

If my car was white, I'd get it sprayed black in a heartbeat but my car is indigo (dark) blue, not sure it will look as good or not. Might have to have a play in photoshop.

Just told you. You clean those stains by replacing the trim. How did you miss that?

I don't have white staining on mine, just water marks, that's how I missed it. Thanks for information though, they do look a lot better after the silver polish so I will see how I get on with that and replace or respray if needed.

Yep, they are anodized aloooooominum and to my knowledge no-one has found the "perfect" cleaner for them and silver polish is your best bet.
