So back in 2009, the XF debuts. At the time, my wife is driving her beloved 1999 XJ8 (and would soon swap to a 1998 XK8 after some idiot totaled the XJ). We drive by the Jag dealer the night the first XFs hit the lot. My wife turns up her nose immediately: "Ew, it looks like a Buick, what is Jaguar thinking?".
This thinking permeates her mind until about 2 months ago, when I trade the XK8 for what is now my 2010 XF. I bring it home, she regards it with indifference. "Buick," she says.
Then we take it out of town on a short trip.
Then she drives it around town while her car (now a Lincoln MKT) is in for an oil change.
Then I decide to drive our old XJ6 to work this week, she's running late for a trip out of town and the MKT had no gas, so she jumps in my XF.
I log onto Facebook last night, find her telling her friends she now prefers my car to hers.
Oh, and today I get a text, "Just passed a new XJ ... OMG what a beautiful car!".
Now I know what's coming next.

Remember: when a Jaguar arrives everyone notices.

You dreamed of a big star -
He played a mean guitar -
He loved to drive his Jaguar...
So welcome to the machine

I rather like the XJ as well, its just so big.
I would have to justify a lot of trips in it, and I would never get my friends out of the back seat of those things.

I could live in its interior. The HVAC vents are especially well done. Seat stitching, etc. Just a great design effort all-around.Originally Posted by kwiksilver
I also agree with the above comments. The XJ is beautiful, but man is it BIG

When I drove our '09 XF to the jewelry store (for a repair - that's all I can afford) the teller asked where my "fancy" truck was, and said that she didn't expect to see me in something so ordinary. I told her to check the icon on the grill, and she came back with a better attitude. I think it's much more beautiful than a buick; but I have to admit that before we got it, I'm not so sure that I would have recognized it as a Jag in a parking lot. I love the size. This is our non-racing vehicle and I actually would consider smaller wheels and larger sidewalls for a smoother ride.
