Default Jaguar Fuel Door Actuator

So I was wondering if anyone else has ran across this situation. So my fuel door actuator failed, so I took it to a local shop to get it fixed. So the original actuator that is installed on the car doesn't match what the dealer shows should be on the car. The shop has been going back and forth with the dealer for a few weeks now. I would have took it to the dealer directly but since my car is an 09 they do not work on any cars older than 10 years .

Can't really help except parts are specified by the last 6 digits of the VIN. Do you have the part number your shop is trying to order? The on-line Jaguar parts places will have a place to enter your VIN to try and verify that is the correct part. Sometimes if you get lucky the parts listing will give a clue about updated or superseded part numbers.

So I've been to multiple sites and put my vin in, and the dealer also comes up with the same part number when they put my VIN in which is C2Z13877, however the failed part on the car is not the same, so C2Z13877 is a 2 wire harness, the actuator that is on my car is a 3 wire harness.

Also, the shop said there was another Jaguar XF same generation X250, same fuel door issue that came in, same part as mine. 3 wire harness.

Can you post the car details? Year and such?
Your right the only fuel door actuators I can find and it seems to be the same part across the entire product line too! XF,XE,XJ and everyone of them I looked at was only 2 wire?

Actually I have looked on eBay and there are 2 for sale in the UK that are used. Ideally I would like to get a new one since this is such a common failure on these cars. I did come up with a new part number from one of the eBay auctions. Not sure how accurate it is though. (C2Z29553)

Yeah I saw that one, was a little skeptical because of the lack of pictures. I ordered it, hey nothing to loose, if it's wrong I'll just send it back.

So researched the part number I found some more that should be on the car and looks like that is the right part number. Called the Jag dealer to see if that part number is in their system, and guess what, it is, as a Fuel Door actuator, and was available. Ordered one from the dealer as well, let's see what shows up. One of these have to be the right one.

Yes CZ2Z29553 should be correct, part 21 on https://parts.jaguarlandroverclassic.../brand/jaguar/
Pics on https://genuinepartsukni.com/product...uator-c2z29553 look right too.

Good find! Interestingly that part number is shown for ONLY the XF too? The other part number posted above shows it was used on XF,XE,XJ models.
So a unique 3 pin part that only fits the 2009-2015 XF's?

My biggest grip is how come the dealer and the shop, which is supposed to be a Jaguar specialty shop couldn't figure this out.

Yes it does seem odd that the dealer parts department didn't figure out the correct one very quickly once they were told the one they supplied didn't fit. It is odd though that there are two fuel bows in that diagram, and they have overlapping VIN ranges, so I suppose you have to look at the shape of the filler pipe to identify.
I'm sure I read somewhere that the early cars had "soft touch" fuel flaps that were popped open electronically, which were problematic so replaced with just a locking mechanism and sprung latch on later cars.

So finally got around to installing this new door actuator only to find out someone broke the damn plastic clip that holds the actuator to the fuel bowl. . So had to replace the whole fuel Bowl. I was going to try and JB Weld it but the replacement bowl wasn't expensive, so i just ordered a whole new bowl. Finally, a working Fuel Door.
