from the Jaguar Driving Experience here in Houston. Definitely worthwhile and fun. Tried not to embarrass myself on the autocross track.

I think Jaguar has changed the transmission algorithm for 2012 (XFR) to allow for automatic shifting when the trans is in S mode and Dynamic mode is selected. My 2011 will only manual shift in that configuration but the cars today shifted automatically.

Glad I wasn't paying for the tars. (a little Southern twang there)

My 09 will shift auto when in dynamic and sport mode, just dont hit the paddles when I engage it.

I have an '11 XFR and it also shifts automatically in S and Dynamic Mode. If you hit a paddle, it will then stay in manual mode without reverting to auto (this to me is desired, and a contrast to D mode, which goes back to auto by itself once you are in a stable condition, i.e., just cruising down the road). Are you sure your '11 doesn't shift automatically in S?

I did the R Performance Academy, too (at Las Vegas Motor Speedway), and it was a terrific experience. I recommend it to everyone who gets and R model Jag. Glad you enjoyed it!
