I had the dealer swap in the "chrome" vents on my '09 XF, before we took delivery of it, therefore the new parts came through the OE Jaguar parts channel.

They're actually plastic, so in order to remove the black ones (our car is black) they simply used a "pry tool", and popped the originals off (which, unfortunately, breaks the retaining pins), and pressed the "chrome" pieces in place.

Don't do it . I had to due to one getting damaged. I didn't like the look ... chrome only looks good on black. In my opinion

They are all over eBay

The stick on ones are waaaay cheaper than the OEM ones, they are easy to install, and they look 99% the same as the OEM ones (only an XF nut could pick the difference). I put them on both my old XFS and my XFR, plenty available on eBay and AliExpress.
Only real downside is I doubt you could remove them if you wanted to go back to stock, they are stuck incredibly hard.

Much the same on both, and not much difference in quality. Best bet is not to buy the absolute cheapest ones but go for "middle of the range" and free postage.
Two other tips - thoroughly clean the stock vents before you stick the covers on (I use meths), and very carefully line them up before you press them on, coz once they touch/stick they can't be moved.
