Default Need Help!!

Have a 2009 XF - Supercharged and it is deader than a door nail with the key fob stuck in the slot. My husband thought the key fob was dead and stuck it in the slot, but the car was actually dead. Can't get the fob out (only have one), open the trunk or anything else. Any body out there have a suggestion??

Does the fob click in and out? Like push in to release? Never use mine but thought I would ask. Didn't think it would be electronic thought it would be a spring mechanism. Also can't you release the key protion on the fob without taking the fob out of the slot? Release button is on the back side and the key should slide out which will allow you to get into the trunk to boost it. Beyond that you got me.

Aaron - Thank you for your reply Yes it does click in and out, but won't click out. We had never used the slot either. I will double check to see if I can get to the release for the key portion. I am not sure. I thought the releases were on the side, but have never had to use it before. What an adventure, haha. Thank you for your advise.

Aaron, Well I was able to get the key portion out. It wasn't easy. I couldn't get to it with my hands because the releases are on both sides. However, being creative and using two very small screwdrivers on each side, I was able to get it released!! Success!!! Hopefully i can put my trickle charger on and get this baby started again. Thanks again for your help and have a GREAT day

Bet that's a relief when you're as far from the dealer. It would have been a serious towing cost!

Now you've fixed the issue, don't ignore the cause. There has to be a reason the battery got that discharged. If this isn't solved, the same thing could happen again.

Thats great you managed to get the key portion out. Mine only has the key release on 1 side of the fob (2009 NA) but either way good that you could get it.

Also, I agree with GGG it could potentially be something more. Maybe it is as simple as leaving an interior light on or a battery that is old or ran out of water...more seriously it could be an alternator or something else. I probably wouldn't worry to much about it until it happens again but keep an eye on it.
