Default Part number needed for TPMS sensor

the mechanic told me my TPMS sensor is causing an air leak in my tire. Was going to charge me $210 for the part and installation.

Wanted to see if that was reasonable? and if someone has 1 sensor available for sale.

Would a universal 315hmz sensor work? or does it have to be Jaguar/Ford specific (the part is actually a ford part). my buddy has one laying around (a new one)

what else needs to happen with installation? programming?

Universal sensor doesn't work without a lot if knowledge of SDD, even sometimes the aftermarket sensors from VDO could work fine or could even response by TPMS system, so for you the best way to order new one.

No SDD needed. The car auto learns a new sensor when you start driving.

In theory a universal 315MHz will work. But in practice the system seems v sensitive to non oem sensors. I had a set on my summer wheels that gave intermittent errors. Eventually changed for OEM and all great. Dealer says it's a well known issue

There is someone on eBay called KendallSurprise selling sets of 4x new oem sensors for $65 for all 4. I bought a set a year ago and have been perfect. No guarantees and not an endorsement - just my experience. If I were you I'd go that route. They are the FoMoCo OEM originals

Good luck
