Part numbers for early XF diff replacement
My 2008 XF diff has the problem and although I have had it overhauled with new bearing and seals before I want to see if I can get the upgraded parts from a wrecked vehicle. Thus I need the part numbers for everything needed and preferably also pictures of the upgraded diff. This will be as presumably referred to by JTB00175NAS5.
I note that the diffs for several other of the period were affected so prwesumably the same basic diff. But id the XF interchangeable with any of those others?

Looking into the TSB and visting Jaguar's own pages it appears the replacement diff is the same part number (C2C 40994) as the original used from 2010 onwards to 2015. In the TSB the propshaft given as a kit (JLM 21867) but the procedure describes undoing the end at the diff only? And stresses that care must be taken not to loosen the flex coupling from the shaft? But if it is to be discarded, why bother? And it does not describe undoing the other end or indeed that a new shaft is to be fitted?
Final question for now: It the replacement prop sahft the same as for the later 2010 onwards vehicles?

The propshaft for the 2.7 replacement diff is very different from the original. The most obvious difference is that the central bearing sits in front of the central UJ in the 2.7 and at the rear in the 3 litre. So it remains to be seen what the difference between the two 2.7 propshafts is. It could be as simple as length because the donut and the end look the same. If so the obvious solution is to take the existing propshaft to a cardan specialist and have them adjust and rebalance. I have to wait until I have had a chance to compare to donut on a 3 litre 2011 - 2014.
OK, have found out the later propshaft does not fit. Will investigate further, but the obvious option is to take the existing propshaft to a specialist and have it adjusted to fit the replacement diff and subsequently rebalanced.
