When I got my XF 2 months ago, the used car dealer I bought it from had just had the windshield replaced. I quickly found that the rain sensing wipers didn't work. I took it by the glass shop that did the windshield and they realized that they didn't put whatever silicon pad (?) in that makes the rain sensor work.
They went back and forth saying they would try to find a silicon pad to install; never did.
Finally they called Jaguar and were told that they needed to buy the whole rain sensor assembly for $147.


The shop said, they didn't make that much that they can pay for that (even though it was due to their neglect). I said they could pull the windshield and re-do it, but he said he would not. I don't think I have any action with them, as they didn't do the windshield for me, they did it for the dealer.


He said he would ask the dealer I bought it from if they would pay for it, but the sale, at this point, was 2 months ago. I'm sure they are long since done with it.


I see used rain sensors for sale on eBay for ~$30-$40. Can I just buy one of these and install it?
That said, I don't think the rain sensor is damaged, just not making the connection to the windshield.


Thanks for any input. I live in Seattle, so NEED the intermittent/ rain sensor working....
