Rear Heat/AC
Okay... does the rear vents on the console work when heat is on? Or A/C come summer time? I had my son in the back the other day and he was complaining it was cold... one of the reasons I upgraded cars was to get rear heat and A/C (not the main reason but one of them)
If they do work what is required to make them blow heat or A/C...

The center rear vents blow air when the dash vents blow air. Unfortunately, the rear compartment of the XF has no control over temp or airflow except to be able to turn off the console vents. If the heat is on (and blowing air through the under dash vents), there are vents under each front seat that provide heated air to the rear compartment. In other words, airflow to the rear is slaved to whatever the front setting is.
Thanks Rbobzilla, I just spent a bit driving and playing while my oldest checked rear vents... with the heat or A/C in auto which is where I prefer it... rear hardly feels any air flow... when I direct select as you stated and turn the fan up manually you feel air either via the vents or the floor...
Well it works, but not the best unless I just turn up the fan.... guess I could close my vents for a bit while I have rear passengers and turn up the fan... Since I do have heated and vented seats it isn't that big a deal up front.
