Default The red Engine Overheating message

Well, I got this message this evening, almost immediately after noticing the orange message. Fortunately I was just turning into my home car park after being in some slowish traffic for a while, so I shut down quickly. There's plenty of coolant in the expansion tank and no signs of coolant leaks. I let the engine cool for a while, then checked for codes with my OBD2 tool. No codes. I can read the coolant temp with my OBD2 tool, so I started the engine to see what was what. All seems to be running fine. The temp dropped a degree or two when the fan kicked in. It sat around the 90 deg C (194 deg F) mark while idling. I used an infrared thermometer to check the temps of the coolant pipes, and there didn't seem to be any major discrepancies. I'm a bit stumped. I had done around 180 km today, mostly highway but some start stop. Like, I said, it was slow start stop towards the end of my final journey today, which was just under 30 minutes. I've read briefly that the fan units, or controllers, can be problematic, deciding not to function sometimes. Anyway, it will be off to the workshop tomorrow. I don't want to cook this 5.0 n/a engine. What do you think?

Just checked the fan at the workshop. It definitely hits 100%, so it is likely a partially stuck thermostat. I'll swap that out and see how it goes.
