Restricted Performance issues
Don’t visit the forum often as I am 77 and sole caretaker for my invalid wife. But I need some advice.
I have a 2009 FX 4.2 supercharged with 85K miles. The “Restricted Performance” light comes on. If the outside temp is under 65 (winter in NE Texas) I can kick it in and pass other cars. When the temp rises (101 yesterday) then the light comes on without hitting the gas. I have read that I have a leak somewhere but seems funny that it only happens with the outside temp above 75. No Jag *********** within 100 miles.
Question----any idea where to look first, what is the common cause for this problem?
An old man would be very grateful for any guidance.

I've only just recently bought a pre-face XFR, and I get Restricted Performance.
Having read up on here, I'm working on the theory that it is the Supercharger coolant pump.
Two reasons:
1) DTC P2601-00 - Coolant pump control - circuit range/performance
2) It only happens if I do a bit of spirited driving. I can drive for several hours in a steady manner, but as soon as I really put my foot down it does it.
Presumably it's the temperature of the supercharger.
I'm trying to get hold of an uprated pump to fix this issue.

You have an O'Reilly Auto Parts in Emory so you should be able to go there and have them plug a code reader in and scan for Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTC) for free. Here is what their web site says about their service:
https://www.oreillyauto.com/store-se...nostic-testing
They're glad to do it for free in case it shows a defective part that they can sell to you but you don't have to buy anything from them if you don't want to. If there is a code like Clivie's P2601 stored, then that will give you (and if you post it here, maybe other gurus here on the forum) a better clue as to where to start looking.

it does sound like the intercooler pump. There's no flow through the intercooler if the pump has failed and intake temperatures are very high with no intercooling. It's a reasonably easy replacement and there are a couple of threads on here about changing it for a larger capacity pump which is also reasonably easy to do.
