Ummm buckle up? j/k

Sit in the vehicles drivers seat with passenger seat empty. Doors closed. Turn ignition to on (press start/stop button without foot on brake). While seatbelt light is illuminated, buckle the belt, once the light goes out, unbuckle, wait for light to come on, buckle up again. repeat this 8 or 9 times and you will get a confirmation tone.
This method is untested as such on the XF so let me know if that works.
To enable would be repeating the above procedure. It will not disable the light.

Don't get youself all upset Dennis. In this day and age if you have to explain to someone other than a 5 year old as to why you shouldwear seatbelts it is not going to get through to them.[sm=sleeping.gif]

The tellng was for the chime, not the light. If it makes you feel better, just picture a deaf person driving a car. They can see the light but the chime is irrelevant. I will not tell anyone how to disable that part.

This method doesn't seem to work in the XF. After about four or five sequences of buckling with the chime and unbuckling when it stops, the chime stops period, so you don't get to the 8 or 9 iterations nor do you get a tone.
This does work in the S Type, but anyone know the secret to the XF?

Yes. But sorry my post was unclear. What I meant was that the chime stopped while doing the procedure so I wasn't able to get past four or five unbuckle/buckle sequences. But, the chime then resumed it's contant ringing afterwards when the car was started and driven if the belt wasn't fastened.
If you've done it on an XF and it worked, I'll try it again and see.

I just did this on my 2018 F Type. It worked. Ten year old thread, how about that?

I back in to my parking place at work and my garage at home and just feel restricted with the seat belt on while turning backwards. Hate those chimes. Thanks FactoryJaguarTech.

I think this is suppose to be a technical forum. If your so morally affected maybe you should call Dr. Phil.

Thanks FJT

does not work on Jaguar XF sportbrake 2013

closed the doors, only me in driver seat, pressed the start/stop button without starting the engine (no break pedal pressed), buckle/unbuckle 9+ times, nothing.....

I'm going to try this- and I wear the seatbelt EVERY time I drive any car, I just don't need reminding of it and I hate all that nanny crap. When I get home, I look in my mailbox, get out and collect my mail, then have to listen to the stupid beeping whilst I drive the remaining 50 yards up my driveway.
