Default Shear Bolt - Bonnet/Hood Hinge

I previously had an S type and I have just bought an XF 3.0 diesel sport, in white with black pack/aero pack/handling pack etc.

I got to my car yesterday after having had it for a week, and I find that the passenger side of my bonnet is raised a couple of inches.

Upon investigation it seems there is a sheer bolt, which has effectively split and this allows a complicated double hinge system to operate. This is supposed to split when the airbags under the bonnet are deployed in the event of a collision with a pedestrian / dog or goat.

Not having hit any goats that I have noticed, I assume it has just popped, so I drilled out the old thread and have replaced it with a normal bolt as a temporary measure so I can use the car. The airbags obviously haven't deployed.

Upon investigation it appears I can't buy a replacement shear bolt as they are only sold as part of a hinge, and the hinges require painting to match the car, as well as being somewhat difficult to remove and fit.

I can't seem to find the shear strength of the bolt, otherwise I could replace it with a similar strength nut and bolt combo. The one fitted to the new hinges is not removable.

Any ideas please ?

I would just leave the bolt as is and drive the car.
