Unhappy Soft Close Motor issues

Can anyone help, I pressed the button inside the car to open the boot just as my husband pressed the boot release on the boot itself. Now the lock wont open or lock down and the soft close motor isn't working. And I cannot lock the car remotely.
Is this a simple reset by disconnecting the battery? Or something more sinister?

Thanks
Caz

Cool Sorted

It cost £408 for a soft close motor and lock in the end.

Good grief! Was the "problem" explained to you? I have never heard of a boot latch/motor failing in my seven years of XF/XJ ownership.
What IS a common fault and often needs replacing is the wiring loom that connects to the boot lid. This can throw up all sorts of problems with the lights, reversing camera and . . . . closing latch. The loom costs less than £100 and takes about 20 minutes to change. A very easy DIY job.

Hi
Well its working fine now - so it cant have been the loom by the looks of it. It was a jaguar specialist btw... he had to take the seats out to get into the boot to release it.
I needed my car for work so I wasn't gonna argue or cross examine him lol. I couldn't leave it unlocked either. Thanks for your comments though - if I have any more issues I know what to mention next time.

I didn't know the XF has a soft close motor. Mine is the opposite and needs a pretty hard close to fully latch. Same on the loaners I've had over the years

Cool

Hi

It depends on the trim level I think, mine is a Luxury, cream leather, wood trim.
