Was looking for any feedback: My steering column adjusts to driver's set position when I get into the car. Lately, it sometimes creaks when adjusting from the higher position to the final driver's position. Anyone with experience on this? Thanks in advance.

 

I think there's a thread tracing this fault to a defective plastic shroud which should be replaced to cure the creak.

 

Yes, I've seen a thread on the issue on this forum...

 

This may be the thread, but the solution doesn't sound quite as definitive as I would like to be able to confidently say it is the shroud itself.
