Default Suggestions for winter tires (09 XF)

Hello,
I have a 09 XF and i live in Chicago (if you're watching the news today you know what's going on here) and i was wondering if i can get as many of your suggestions for the most effective winter tires? I've tried looking trough other threads but i couldn't exactly find anything that was direct and straight forward.
Any and all suggestions are welcome and much appreciated.

I had a 09 XF NA and after getting a second set of wheels and winter tires, the XF became my go to winter driver (I live in central Pennsylvania and we get our share of bad weather). I went to Tire Rack and got a wheel/tire combination. The wheels were Sport A7 as I recall with Bridgestone Blizzaks mounted with TPMS and Hunter Road Force balancing included. All I had to do was switch over spring and fall. I had that setup for three winters and a total of about 25,000 to 30,000 miles and was totally statisfied with ride quality (18 inch for the winter wheels vs 19 inch for the original rims). The winter driving mode worked very well. The winter tire rubber compound makes a big difference in cold weather driving, no matter if there is ice or snow on the road or not. I traded the car (including the second set of wheels/tires) late last year and really miss it this time of year. I hope this helps in your decision making.

I'm just to the North of you in Milwaukee. We just got about a foot on Monday and a couple more inches yesterday. I have a XF Supercharged and run Pirelli SottoZeros. They've worked great. The only issue I have is in deeper snow it tends to drift a bit as I am still running a 285 on the rear.

I live in New England where we've been pummeled with snow over the last 10 days.

My S-Type 4.2 is doing very well with a pair of Falken snows on the rear and all-seasons on the front.

You don't say what model you have. If it is not a SC or XFR you could fit 18's on it if you don't have them already. Smallest wheel with narrowest tire works best. I have Nokians, but still slip on hills and slush, and they are top 1 or 2 rated snowtire. Car needs more weight over tires. I have 8.5 inch width on all fours , but wheels are 20 inch. I switch back to staggered setup insummer.

I have the same tires mentioned above on jaguar oem wheels: Blizzaks mounted and balanced with a 5th Blizzak as a spare, near new. 245 40 19.

$1000 for the set.
