Default Tail light replacement

I need to replace the quarter panel-mounted passenger side tail light assembly. The LEDs are out, but the turn signal indicator and backup indicator still operate. It appears easy enough to do, but I'm wondering if I'll also need to replace the trunk-mounted portion as well. I'm hoping that when I replace the larger assembly the trunk-mounted light will come back on. Anyone have experience with this issue? Thanks!

(I previously posted this on the X260 forum and realized today that I was in the wrong spot. :/ )

There is no trunk mounted tail light on a 2009-2011 XF, unless you are referring to the rear fog lamps or the license plate light.

More than likely replacing the main section will fix the secondary trunk section.

Default Fixed it

Thank you for your responses. I thought the trunk mounted section were lights but they appear to be reflectors. I received the replacement light and was able to swap it out yesterday. It took about 30 minutes. I'm now having an issue with the alarm sounding randomly in the middle of the night. It typically stops before I can get to my keys. I think I found a thread with the resolution listed so that'll be my next project. Thanks, again!

The trunk mounted section is mainly a reflector, but there is a small rectangular lamp in its center that is your rear fog lamp and it should light up very brightly (on both sides) when you switch on your fog lamps. These only work when the tail lights are on.
