Winter storage question
I will be storing my 2103 XF 5.0SC for the next 3-4 months in a storage unit that does not have power. So I cannot install a trickle charger to maintain the battery and I will not easily be able to go out and start it every 2 weeks like I did last winter when I stored it in my home garage.
Is it advisable to disconnect the main and auxiliary batteries or just leave them connected and hope the car starts in late March/early April?

I guess if I were up north, I'd be worried about the battery freezing. Fully charged its good to like -65 degrees F, but fully discharged its almost like plain water at just under 32 degrees. Maybe a disconnected battery gets down below 50% charge by late February, it'd still recover, but old man Winter could still sock you with several nights in a row in the single digits. Do you have a small space in your home garage that you can remove the battery(s) from the car and keep safely on a CTEK or similar quality maintainer? I assume the XF itself would be fine left unpowered, but here in Texas, we only worry about storing our classic cars.
I would agree. Remove the battery, keep it at your house (in a garage, not actual house as they can emit hydrogen). And top up the charge from time to time so you protect it
Would also fill the fuel tank right up and consider adding a fuel stabilizer too

Yeah, I'd be taking both batteries out and storing them somewhere warmer. If you have a charger or maintainer, stick it on the main one. I probably wouldn't put both of them on charge from one charger, but you could give the second one a charge and then just store it and it'll be fine once you fit it back in the car, and keep the main battery on a conditioner if you have one. The only downside to this is if the car needs to be moved for whatever reason during it's storage, that will be a problem without a battery.
