I just spent 1/2 a day at TireRack with one of their engineers who measured EVERYTHING. We thought a 19" BBs wheel would fit (essentially the only one) but it was inside their safety tolerance range for clearance over the caliper. I ended up getting a set of 4 255/35R-20 Pirelli Winter 240 Sottozero XL's. We discussed the stagger and decided that in winter narrower trumps stagger, so all 4 tires are identical.

Here in Edmonton Canada we have at least 6 months of Winter so I just purchased another set of stock XFR Rims with Pirelli W240 Sottozero Winter Tires (255/35R20 and 285/30R20). At least the car looks the same all year round ! I was also told by the local Dealer that the wheels must be minimum 20 in. to clear the brakes. So far it has been pretty mild weather so no chance yet to try them out in the ice and snow.

285 is too wide for winter wow. but the rear wheel is 20x11 so you cann't really put a 255 on the rear. winter mode may help but the engine has so much torque it may just ingage the traction control and just stop spinning. best way is to hold dsc bottom for 10sec it 100% turns off traction and it may help . good luck.

I spent some time with the engineer at TireRack and he OK'd putting 255's on the rear wheel. I might switch to 285's before next winter as I'm getting wheel-spin in 3rd gear.

I have 255's on mine. I had the Head honcho from Jag North america say it was fine. the dealer did it for me when i purchased (Nokian hakkapellita) Its pretty decent in the snow with the winters

Have now tried 255/285 in -40 degree weather and lots of snow (snowing like crazy right now actually) and so far no problems - very good grip! Winter Mode is awesome.
