I am in the process of upgrading my 2012 XF stereo system, so far i've got focal 6.5" speakers in each door, ground zero 4" mids and meridian tweeters. All connected to high 12 amplifier (currently CCF not updated and playing as a 10 channel amp). I have a groundzero 10" sub powered by a 1000W vibe amp. The front 6.5" and mids go in to a 4 channel 4*100W amplifier using the output from the standard amp and then fed back into the loom.
The problem is the quality of the door speakers is still poor, the bass isn't the single 10" sub plays nice in ported box.
I want to bypass the factory amp completely as it is the weak link in the system, is there anyway of either converting the MOST signal to input to a standard aftermarket amp or obtaining a normal high level speaker output from the factory headunit, then things will be much improved and I can have the sound quality I want. I had an excellent system in my X type just using high level inputs into my amp and two way focal speakers in each door, no matter what I do to my XF it just isn't good enough so far.
Is this possible, earlier XF models had an option with no power amp but as far as I can tell all facelifts had one with the mid 8 amp being the lowest option.
Also whilst I'm on what is the unit below the factory amp for? And any idea what the green plug with the two thin wires is that goes into the factory amp?
Any useful info would be appreciated to help me achieve my goals of top quality car audio which I know is possible using the kit I've got,
