Default XF with annoying noise when steering wheel adjusts on start up

Has anyone found a fix for a honking type noise that occurs from the steering column when the car ( a 2008 premium luxury 4.2 l V8 ) is first started and the steering wheel adjusts to the pre set position .
The car Is a very low 30,000 km vehicle in excellent condition and this annoying noise has just appeared . i
It only occurs when the engine is started from cold and the steering adjusts to the pre set height .
I would very much like to hear from anyone who may have had the same problem and how they got rid of this noise.

Mine has made a noise when adjusting down when I first get in. Had it serviced at dealer. They say they lubricated. I think others have had a replacement of column.

Make sure to get the panel replaced. They had no issues doing it for me under warranty. Only hear the column motor noise now, not the awful groaning that used to be there.
