Default XF Engine Bay Sand Cleaning

I popped the hood and theres so much sand in my engine bay. Like it litterlly looks like i went through a sand storm.

Some of the sand is deep and I wanted to know if I can hose the engine bay down to clear it all.

There are so many electrical wires that It looks impossible to bag all of them since they are in tight spots.

Whats the best way I can clean my engine bay? I am trying to improve performance and make everything clean so it runs better / smoother.

I'd be considering vacuuming it out rather than hosing it, which would probably just make the sand clump up (making it worse) and maybe not even wash it all out. You could even seal a smaller pipe over the end of the a vacuum cleaner hose to get in all the difficult places. May take a while but would be worth it. Also definitely consider dropping the undertray which will help a lot with getting it all out.

I second the motion for using a shop vac. There are lots of various attachments that will get into most of the tight spots. Here in Texas, we get so much dust that's what I do before cleaning the engine bay. Once you get the loose sand out, if you still want to clean further, a little Simple Green in a pump-up bug sprayer will allow you to put a fairly powerful stream of cleaning solution or rinse right where you want it and avoid getting electrical items wet.

After vacuuming what you can get out, maybe try a high pressure air hose with the under tray removed, then maybe some liquid for the stubborn areas..

I use a steam cleaner.
Vacuum sand out first, but steam cleaner makes it look brand new
