What is the sensor in the rear view mirror for?

Default What is the sensor in the rear view mirror for?
It's at the top of the glass in the middle, a little sensor or something?

Yep, it's a light sensor.
Triggers the auto dimming function of the mirror, eg when hit by the light from a car's headlights behind you.
