Default Which XF to get?

Hi everyone.

I'm considering buying one of these cars and would appreciate if someone could provide few words of wisdom

2009 2,7 diesel xf with 155,000 kilometers on.
2010 3,0 diesel xf wih 170,000 kilometers on.

Are they worth any consideration at all? both cost similar - 11k. euros.

which car would have a better engine and transmission and why? Planning on doing around 12-15k kilometers of driving per yer 50/50 urban/motorway

What problems could i expect at this mileage? on few places i have red that electronics tend to be a weaker side on these cars, as well as the there were some problems with trasmission stuck on P mode. Is it their weak side or it should have already been taken car by the dealers on these cars.

Also what should i look at when i go to inspect these cars?

Previously i owned mercedes c class 2009. was the first year when these models came out and before buying i did read a lot about these cars. Found a lot of complaints that they were with a lot of faults and etc. but when i bought it 3 years ago and made more than 50k kilometers with it, didnt had any isues with it ( only a broken handle). wonder if the same might be with these jags. a lot of bad reviews but in reality they are much sturdier.

Will be waiting for your help guys and gals

Definitely the 3.0 litre. It's a much more refined engine than the 2.7.
... and better economy.
They are robust engines but listen for any strange noises form turbos.

Each year the little niggles in the early models were worked out. 2008 and 2009 were hard on batteries and went through them. I think by 2010 they were better.
I have a 2011 3.0d and haven't found any problems at all so far. I bought it with 100,000k and it now has 130.

It would be worth putting it up on a hoist and getting suspension bushes checked out at those K's. It all depends on the type of roads it's been driven on and how it's been driven.

The transmission fluid is toted as being 'lifetime'.
It's not. Ideally it would have been changed around 120- 130,000. Check the service books and receipts. If it hasn't been done definitely it will need a flush and fluid, and filter (plastic sump) replacement. This is around a 700 euro job.
The box should shift smoothly and evenly.

Look for any bubbling on the leather dash. If it has started to lift anywhere (not uncommon on early cars) it's not a cheap fix.

Can't think of much else, others might.
This being an American based forum, you won't find many diesel owners here. They didn't go to the US.
Great for other stuff though.

Go to Jaginfo (an English site) and you'll get far more feeback on the diesels.
