XF premium- buyers dilemna
Hello Jag-fans
I am new to the forum. I just test drove XF premium today 2011. V8.
I am getting it for 38000. Plus additional 1500 for a certified warranty- which i had never heard off before that u could buy it. is that common?
My dilemma is maintenance costs and durability as someone said it. I have paid thru my nose in 6 months for BMW 750li- 4K spent- this wasn't maintenance- tranny leak, engine thermostat fault and coolant leake.
Just dont want a repeat with Jag.
pls offers ome views on XF- premium 2011. has 30k miles
thanks

The 2011 should have some factory warranty left. How much extra time and miles at you adding with that Certified Warranty? Is that a Jaguar offered warranty extension?
My 2009 XF was very well built. I had no issues other than those covered by the warranty and the only out of warranty service needed was rear brakes, a normal service item not covered by the 09 warranty but covered now on m new 13 XF.
Oil changes once per year or 10,000 miles was the only other service required.

Price seems a little high. That is slightly more than I paid for my loaded 2011 premium 6 months ago with 19k miles. Don't forget the 2011 includes all maintenance to 50k including brake rotors. Don't know that I would pay extra for the warranty. See if they will throw it in at asking, or lower, price.
I've had my '11 xf SC for just over a year and 7700k miles. No major issues. How long do you plan on keeping the car.

38 is what he is asking- haven't negotiated yet....i was thinking of getting it around 35 and then the certified warranty-another 1500.
what do you think, is that a fair price?
also when i am comparing it to 2011 E350 MB- is it an apples to apples? I have been thinking that as my second choice.

Then forget paying for the extra warranty, you won't use it and it won't add enough to resale to get your money back.
These car are very well built no matter what consumer reports might suggest.

I agree E350 is slow...especially 2011 and earlier models. and obviously expensive too than Jag.
i guess i will drive MB and see so it will give me some comparison. I am looking for power- especially since i am driving BMW 7 series.
thanks

I would pay the 1500 and get the warranty. It would worth it for me just for the peace of my mind. Also, if you do sell it in 3 years the buyer would feel much more confident with that warranty for 1 more year.
I am on my 4th consecutive Jag right now with a 2012 XJL and a 2012 XF and really have had no problems with any of the 4 cars other than some updating of the software. They seem to be quite reliable so, don't let that worry stop you.

You will be very disappointed with the E350, since you have already driven the XF.
I, myself, looked at E550 (v8) before buying the XF. The car was very well built. It didn't have the same kick to it for some reason, in terms of performance, which was surprsing as on paper it sprints 0-60 quicker.
The car absorbed bumps on the road better than the XF equipped the 19" wheels. But.... the cornering ability wasn't very impressive. It felt very floaty. The XF drives is much more planted and loves to be pushed around the corners.

At 35 I think it is reasonable, but no steal. I wouldn't pay for the warranty if you only plan to keep 3 years. I tend to sell cars right before the warranty expires that way the buyer gets the piece of mind of warranty for a few months to fix any hidden issues. In my experience that helps the resale. Alternatively, I keep the car a decade. Not sure where I will come out on the xf yet.
I would like to ask your opinion as to what would be a good price to buy this jag XF premium 2011? He is aking 38000. Has been on the lot for a month.
thanks again
