Congratulations Damien. Are you keeping the XK or trading in?

Traded the XKR in.......lost a load of cash on it, but such is life!!!!

New XFR is still an absolute joy to drive.......just not quite as sexy as the XKR!!

Gooday - what year is the XFR? I had an 08 XF and a '12 XF 5.0. The '12 plus models are a lot different on the inside (infotainment mainly) especially against the XKR '10 year, some of it is great though I struggled with the new style screen.

Hey Bruce,

Sweet! Yes the 2010 had the same general interior as the 2008, and the touchscreen is what you were used to from the XKR. Although I liked the seats and the lights in the 2012 XF, I really preferred the 2010 touchscreen and infotainment.

Unfortunately the hard drive setup in the 2012 took ages to boot up which was especially a PITA because the reverse camera waits until after the screen boots up, I couldn't understand the point of having to load CDs into limited slots on the drive which took forever, and the screen was jammed packed with different things to save having to go through windows, but that meant I kept pressing the wrong things when driving.

I haven't heard the quicksilver exhaust. I put the paramount setup from my 4.2 onto the 5.0, but it sounded tinny, a lot different to the XKR which I have x piped too.

You'll love the car, congratulations on that and the little feller coming along. I am the opposite to you - my kids are getting to license age so I could go from the family car to the XKR. My youngest is pestering the crap out of me to promise her a '66 Mustang when she gets a license. You'll be there in 17 years or so...

Congrats. I just became the proud owner of an XFR and am really enjoying it so far. I think it'll be a great family car, though that kiddo will make it a challenge to keep clean. Hope the has a minivan or SUV!

Great that she likes cool classic cars, but getting her one of those is just a small step above getting her a motorcycle in terms of safety.

I couldn't do it. My daughter will be driving soon, and she either wants a Porsche Cayenne or a Range Rover Sport. Safe cars, and both are about the same money. Not sure which one it will be.

Agreed on safety. Over here provisional license holders are banned from high powered cars, even if the price of the cars (probably $50K for an old Cayenne, plenty more for a RR Sport) could be tolerated. For my first daughter I wanted a fiat 500C but a Mazda 2 it is, ticked the box with 5 star safety. I'm hoping that the mustang becomes a Fiat for daughter 2...if not, she would only be allowed to drive a 6 cyl 'stang, and probably only it was converted to RHD...
