Default ZF 6HP Shift Flare/Slipping

Hey.

My 2010 XF 3.0D S is having these weird upshifts from 2-3 sometimes. I have researched abit and i think its called "shift flare" or something like that. It doesnt happen often but its always the same gear that does it, if that makes sense. The transmission has been serviced 3 months ago. Does anyone know why this is happening? Like i said it doesnt happen that often, it happens kinda randomly. Thanks!

195.000KM (121.000 miles)

When you say “serviced” what did they do? Drop and fill or flush? What fluid did they put back in?

Hey. On the papers i got from them it says "Deep clean, change transmission oil" and they used SP Matic 4026, i live in norway btw. They also used "BG Transmission Servicekit"

It looks like the Kroon Oil tranny fluid should be OK, it has ZF 6sp specs but JLR can be pretty picky about fluids. I prefer Red Line. In general, “flushing” a tranny can cause problems and my mechanics don’t recommend it. I usually do a drop and fill which retains some of the old fluid and keeps the used tranny happy. I’d call your mechanic back and ask them to check it out.

Yea, i also heard that flushing could cause problems. The place i use for my car is a certified JLR dealer/garage so I would think that they have some sort of experience/knowledge with these cars🤣 i also had these problems with the shifting before i took the service. I called a transmission garage here in norway a while back that meant the problem could be because of the mechatronic unit, but couldnt be sure without checking it.

I will call my mechanic and have them check it out. Thanks!

step 1: throw a reman valve body at the problem

step 2: if problem not resolved, don’t do anything and give up. it’s a 2010 xf…diesel

I would do a drop and fill, while replacing the 3 tube seals and bridge connector seal above the valve body... If you want to spend an extra 1000 you can do the valve body with a rebuilt at the same time...
