Default fuel level sensor, wont pass inspection

My name is Marty and I have a 2003 XJ8 VP with 88,000 miles. Engine light came on and after checking it out the fuel level sensor, code p0460 is the reason. Had the engine light turned off but it wont pass inspection as the p0460 code still appears on the state's inspection computer. Any advice other than the Jag dealer charging me $2,400. to repair/replace. Mostly labor of course. Many thanks!!!

Hi Marty,
$2,400 for this job is not expensive, that is outrageous. An Indy Jag shop in my area is charging $540: 3 hours labor $109/hr and $213 for parts. It might be cheaper from other local shops.

Thanks for the advice. Being new to the Dallas, Texas area I don't have the contacts here like I did back east. But I will do more research looking for qualified Jaguar repair shops. Many thanks!!!

Marty - call Jeff at Clown Shoe Motorsports. Tell him Mark in SoCal referred you. Jeff did a TON of work of my e28 and is MORE than fair in his prices and his work is solid
