Hello everyone!

I bought a 2001 S-Type a little over a year ago. It's in decent shape, needs some TLC. It seemed like a good deal at the time so I couldn't pass it up. It's been out of commission for a while now (wouldn't pass smog). I am now able to put some time into the vehicle. Went to start it and it's not getting fuel to the filter. I checked the 4-pin connector going to the pump and am a little confused. Should the voltages be the same with key on and off? I saw ~11.5V at pins 2 and 3, 0.16-0.17V at pin 1. Also, is there a valve on the pump unit itself that can become stuck closed after sitting for awhile? I have read some other threads suggesting the fuel pump most likely needs replacing after sitting for so long (about a year). Wondering should I just order a new pump or are there other things I should check first?

I really look forward to talking with you guys. I've read alot of posts here and really appreciate how helpful everyone is.
Thanks in advance!
Jim

Jim,

Welcome to teh forum.

I have NO answer on that question.

I suggest reposting it in the S Type area, that way many more will see it. Not so many wander in here regularly.

One of the "Mods" will do so when the time zones align, but it may take longer.

Hello, Jim,

In the meantime, Welcome to the forums from ElinorB.
