Default 2011 Jaguar XJ leaking fuel underneath hood

Hi guys , I have had my 2011 Jaguar XJ for over a year now , car drives great , not until late I came home and parked it , i topped the engine Coolant and forgot to close the cap , drove the car to the store and came home and parked , then I noticed the smell of fuel and when I checked it was coming from underneath the hood, the car still starts and all but I am scared to drive because I think it might go up in flames, please does anyone have an idea of what the problem might be ?

Hopefully the car didn't burn down. He posted one time and was never seen again. Little concerning that if a fire didn't end the car that his routine of adding coolant might have ended the car with a blown head gasket.

My 2011 XF had a fuel smell and it turned out to be a crack in the plastic of the float assembly in the top of the gas tank. I replaced that plastic part by removing the seat back. I don't know if the XJ has the same setup, but that plastic cracking and spraying an explosive mist of gasoline right under the rear passenger was not uncommon at all with the XF, so I would check it first, if it has the same design.

Yes just another drive by posting!
So sad because we don't know if he got it fixed or even what really was wrong?

This XJ belonged to a friend of mine. It was on a test drive after some major engine work. The cause was identified as a fuel leak but they could not pinpoint exactly where the leak occurred.

Be very nervous of fuel leaks.

Yea i have a 2013 XJ and have a fuel leak rear engine passanger side dont see any signs of leaking from both fuel rails. But one of my foam covers for high pressure fuel pump is damp the other bone dry i think it might be pump of fuel line connected to pump leaking on foam cover.
