2011 XJL warranty
#21
One other idea to consider: Buy the most expensive and complete coverage warranty plan (aka car repair insurance) that you can find that has a pro-rated refund clause and then drive the car for a validation period to make sure it's solid. If anything big fails or shows up during in the validation period, have the warranty repair it. If the car proves solid, cancel the policy and get a prorated refund. It's those things that are wrong right after you buy a used car that might have been masked by the previous owner that really get you.

Don't get car shield
My 2011 XJL . Don't get car shield. I had them and had to get some work done and the auto shop sent in what need to be repaired and car shield told them it was covered. Long story short they didn't pay for the whole repair the shop did & said most of it wasn't covered even though they said it was. So I had to pay the difference. And my coolant pipe wasn't covered under the warranty even though the coolant system is on the warranty but not that part. Once the repair shop got their money from them I called the next day to cancel. Lucky I only had them for 3 to 4 months. Just be careful on theses warranty people. I have a good mechanic that works on my car as well but me having that warranty I figured let the shop do it. And being an older car they will charge you alot more and sell you the cheapest warranty that covers nothing.

How do you like the 2019? Does yours have the 20 speakers? If so, what do you think when listening to the music in surround sound?
Oh, since you live in Houston will you be showing the car in any car shows? I did mine in Pittsburgh at their annual show in 2016 and took 1st place in my division.

The Model S is applauded for having a great sound system, but I like the sound from the Jag even better. I haven't even played around with the settings very much, so I might it even more after doing that.
Yes, the XJL and the E-Type will be in the local Jag Club Concours next month.

I hope I did not scare you too much??
I hate to hear your NOT going to make it your daily driver too?
I must say after 5+ years of ownership and plus it's my only car I am still impressed EVERY time I drive it. It's a subtle car in all respects and besides being blindingly fast (Mines a tuned XJR) it just drives "right".
So I hope you reconsider and use as much as possible. You bought it and you deserve the pleasure of using it!

I love it. It's perfect for me, especially when compared to the 2023 Model S that replaced it that lacked any sense of luxury or comfort in exchange for an iPad stuck to the center of the dash.

I believe all 2016+ XJs (at least in the US) came standard with the 20 speaker, 825W sound system.
And offered an optional reference 26 speaker, 1300W sound system.
If the plaque on your doors says "Meridian Surround" then you have the 825W standard sound system - if it says "Meridian Reference" then you have the 1300W reference system.
And offered an optional reference 26 speaker, 1300W sound system.

The biggest difference is the "Reference" system has speakers mounted on the back of the front seats. This is to give the rear seat passengers the same surround sound as the front seats. Easy to see the difference.
I have only seen pictures so I think it's a rare option?

Yes - the reference system comes with 6 extra speakers - 3 in each of the rear of the front seats - two 3.25” midrange +1” tweeter.
It also adds 2 more amplifiers to the system.
It also changes the two rear woofers in the rear doors from the 6.5" of the standard system - to 8" - to match the 8" front door woofers.
All of the speakers are supposedly of a "higher" quality.
Then there is the additional 475W - 1300W from the standard 825W.
And also adds Meridian's "Conversation Assist".
