Default regrets?

I know this is an old thread but I was just wondering how those 22" wheels worked out in the long run? I am considering purchasing an XJL that has 22" Asanti wheels but I am concerned about the super skinny tires (also they are Nexen tires which doesn't help either LOL).

Have the dealer put a set of factories on it as part of the deal. Or give them a few bucks towards it.

I can't imagine 22" wheels riding soft or being too healthy for the suspension. You will feel every imperfection on the road with them on.

And, one small pot hole, it will result in either blown tire or a cracked rim.

Default No go

Unfortunately without the 22" wheels it actually doesn't make sense at the asking price ($2500 more than almost identical on stock wheels just sold last week). Guess I may keep waiting for the right one to come along with factory 20s.

Are you close to Park Place Jaguar?

Those guys have large inventory of Jaguars, both Xjs and XFs.

I live in San Antonio, home of the original $hitty road. I have had my XJ with 22's for a year now. I have had no problems with pot holes, ride quality or bent rims. The only problem I have is everyone is always checking out my car :-)

Can you give us some pics of the ride?

Default Thanks!

I ended up buying one with the 20" factory wheels instead, may change them in future but for now those will do. Thanks for the info!

I decided to go with Continental DWS tires in a 295/25/22 (F) and 245/30/22 over Michelin PS2's or the Pirelli PZero Neros. The Continental's have significantly higher tread wear ratings, are significantly quieter and softer riding. They do not handle like the PS2's but Im not expecting supercar cornering out of my 5000lb saloon.

Going with 22's was a bit of a compromise. I REALLY wanted 21's but saw pictures of 22's posted here and on HRE's website. I thought the look was great but was worried about the minimal sidewalls hurting the ride quality and being a PITA for bent wheels. The issue with 21's is the high cost of replacement tires and the high cost of wheels. Also most 21's that had the look I was seeking were only made in a three-piece wheel. Multi piece wheels are typically forged and lighter, but bend easily. My wheel vendor told me that he would refund my money if he mounted the wheels and I didnt like the ride quality. With that deal, I had nothing to lose.

The summary is that the ride quality isnt really noticeably worse. Houston has expanisve soil so most of the roads are made in concrete with expansion joints and cracks everywhere. We have TERRIBLE roads here and I really cant tell the difference. There may be a SLIGHT difference in certain bumps, but nothing that makes me feel like I degraded the ride quality. I honestly cant tell if its "placebo" or the ride is the same. Road noise with the Continental DWS tires is actually better than the stock Dunlops and the look is pretty much unbeatable. I still am concerned about bending wheels, but we'll see how often that happens.
What a nice car to drive it must be...

Default Ride Quality Unchanged or Better on 22s

I had a Lexus GS430 and went from 18s to 20s, had it lowered a hair and a few other tweaks... ride quality became an issue along with wheels rubbing every time I hit a dip in the road or turned at speed...

Was worried when I put 22s on my 2011 Jag but all turned out perfect. In fact I think the ride improved!

I went with 22 x 9 in the front and 22 x 10.5 wheels in the back... Falken tires... not my first choice but at 22 the options are very limited.

Overall no rubbing at all... better turning / handling... on the straights maybe a hair more road feel but not in a bad way at all...

Default 22"

Did you have any problems after putting your 22s on your Jag? I just put "non staggering" 22s w/ 245/30 nexen tires on my 2010 jaguar XF 3 days ago however my TPMS, ABS, DCS and Engine light came on yesterday. I took the car back to the rim shop and they said I need to take it back to the Jaguar dealer to have them reset my car to match my rim size. I'm trying to figure out if anybody else has done that when putting 22s on their Jag. Did you use your factory TPMs or aftermarket TPMs with your rims?

I doubt that any Jaguar dealer will "reset your car to match your rim size". Even if they could (which I doubt), they won't do it because of legal liability since your car wasn't designed for 22's. Your 22" tire diameter does not correspond to what your car's computers expect to see. That's the reason for all the codes.

Yout tire dealer might be able to fix the problems by replacing those "wrong size " tires with another size that is the same overall diameter of your OEM 20" size. They caused the problem, and they should fix it. They should have known that this could happen. Don't let them shift the blame to you.

I do not have all those codes coming up i am riding without a tpms so i get a tpms fault as the oem will error out as well as no aftermarket will work correctly. What is the offset of you 22s that you are using i have a very unique offset and using a staggered approach with my tires to somewhat simulate the staggered tire size oem.

Hi Guys,

I got some nice 22" wheels for my 2013 Jaguar XJ but I cannot find the Continental DWS tires in a 295/25/22 (F) and 245/30/22. I got some Lexani twenty tires and they are really bad. I couldn't find the correct load rating tire for this car, did anyone ran into that issue with the Continentals? and if not what is the load rating on the tires you are using.
