91 XJS V12 conv, hot engine start problems
Have not driven my cat much....It has been waiting in line for a tranny mod, to install a 700R4. But took it out on a 40 mile trip, nice day in NE Florida....but 'HOT', 95 in the shade!! Car ran well...I took note if so e items that still need attention, it has a stumble at idle, low oil pressure indication even at highway speed, etc.
But when I shut it off and attempted to restart a short time later, it would not catch. It took some 10+ tries before it came alive?? Now I'm an older guy, car guy my whole life, but it reminded me of 'vapor lock' that we used to experience with carb motors. If the carb was not insulated from the manifold (back then they were cast iron-not aluminum)' the hot engine would cook the fuel and it was a tough engine to get going.
Is this what is happening here??....what can be done about it?? Looking for you guys with Jag experience to help!!!
Thanks.
Tony

Well, Tony, the guys will no doubt help you when you post in the right forum ! This one is for the current large saloon, (XJ).
Ask a moderator to move this to the XJS forum, where I've no doubt you'll get lots of help

Thanks for the heads up - but I have no clue on how to do that!! Can't find a link to a moderator anywhere!! If I knew how to cancel it - I would repost under the correct category. Thanks for the catch!!

Tony,
At the top left of this page click on Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum
When you mouse over it, it will underline and turn black; click on it and you will go to the Jaguar Forums Home Page that lists each type of forum.
Scroll down until you get to the XJS (X27) Forum - it's under the Jaguar Models (Classics) heading. You can re-post your inquiry there.
Learn to use the Search function. Yours is an older model, so most likely every question you can think of has already been asked and answered. No need to reinvent the wheel. Good luck, and I hope you find the answer to your problems.
